The HTC Runnymede, which some have called it the HTC Bass, has been getting some attention lately, never mind that the world is going to remain focused on the iPhone 5 when October rolls around. Why HTC Bass? Well, perhaps because it has that obvious connection with the Beats Audio brand, and while the video was seen on YouTube (and subsequently pulled, of course), this Vodafone-branded smartphone is still alive in video form thanks to Engadget making a back up clip.

The HTC Runnymede is a smartphone that has a rather generous 4.7? display – surely this is where you won’t make any more typing mistakes with that virtual keyboard? Hopefully the battery life is able to keep up with the rest of the device.

HTC Bass
The HTC Runnymede has been leaked quite a bit over the past few weeks, with its specs and pictures turning up online for all to see. Well, now it looks like the phone has been completely revealed – and just a few days before its rumored announcement at the upcoming HTC event too. The Android phone that packs a massive 4.7? display (not to be confused with the WP7-running HTC TITAN) finally has its real name revealed (come on, who thought that HTC was going to release a phone named Runnymede anyway?) to be the HTC Bass.

Seeing how its counterpart, the HTC Rhythm (formerly known as HTC Bliss) is said to be announced at the same event as well, Bass makes more sense than Runnymede – although it does break the R&R combo of the phone names. The phone was recently posted up on a UK online store which gave away the name of the phone but not its price and release date. The HTC Bass is expected to be unveiled on September 20th. Read up more about its specs.

HTC Bliss and Runnymede specifications leaked in full

HTC logoThe HTC Bliss and Runnymede are two upcoming Android handsets that have been talked about quite a bit. The HTC Bliss is supposedly HTC’s first Android handset that is targeted specifically at the female audience in mind, while the HTC Runnymede is supposedly HTC’s next flagship device that will be sporting a monstrous 4.7” display. While there have been several mentions of both device’s specifications, for those who refuse to believe until they see something official, it looks like your wish has come true.

It appears that official spec sheets have been leaked in full for both devices and they pretty much confirm everything that has been speculated in the past. For starters it turns out that the HTC Bliss is indeed a handset that is targeted at the female audience, and as it was mentioned before, it will indeed be coming with the charm accessory that supposedly lights up when there is an incoming call. It will sport a 3.7” Super LCD display with 800×480 resolution with a 5MP camera that is capable of recording 720p videos.

Much like the HTC Bliss, the Runnymede will also be coming with an accessory of its own – a set of Beats headphones, and considering HTC’s partnership with Beats Audio, it looks like this has been confirmed. It will be running on a 1.5GHz Qualcomm processor with 16GB of internal storage and an 8MP camera also capable of recording 720p video. Now if you hoping that the previous specs of a 4.7” WVGA display were not true (perhaps you were hoping for something in the qHD region?), it looks like you will be in for a disappointment as the HTC Runnymede will be featuring WVGA display after all.

For more photos of the official leaked spec sheets of both the HTC Bliss and the HTC Runnymede, head on down to ThisIsMyNext for the pictures.

HTC Runnymede 2 spotted?

HTC Runnymede 2 spotted? | Ubergizmo window.fbAsyncInit = function() { FB.init({ appId : '139683546053659', status : true, // check login status cookie : true, // enable cookies to allow the server to access the session xfbml : true // parse XFBML }); }; (function() { var e = document.createElement('script'); e.src = document.location.protocol + '//connect.facebook.net/en_US/all.js'; e.async = true; document.getElementById('fb-root').appendChild(e); }()); Network:Ubergizmo English, French, SpanishUberphones Subscribe to RSS Ubergizmo ReviewsMobileGamingAndroidAppleComputersGadgetsConceptsPhoto/Video |  Jobs Contact About Home > CellPhones > HTC Runnymede 2 spotted? HTC Runnymede 2 spotted? Edwin Kee 09/01/2011 21:56 PDT

What the heck? It seems that the HTC Runnymede has yet to be made official, and here we have the HTC Runnymede 2 spotted online, where it will sport 16GB and 32GB flavors to keep you happy. To make sure that the HTC Runnymede remains at the top of the food chain, it will run on the Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread operating system complete with HTC’s latest Sense 3.5 user interface layer on top of stock Android. There will be a generous 4.7? display at a rather disappointing 800 x 480 resolution though, with a single-core 1.5GHz MSM8255 processor that is similar to the one in the HTC Flyer running proceedings from within.

Still shy of 1GB RAM and 768MB, there will be an 8-megapixel camera that does 720p video with dual flash capability, while a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera is there for video calls. DLNA support is also included, while you will get a pair of bundled Beats headphones. Interestingly enough, the camera will feature a backlit sensor plus 28mm wide-angle lens and focal ratio of f/2.2, while in video mode, it does footage at 60 frames-per-second.

Turns out the 16GB model will cost you 499 GBP outright, while the 32GB model will be slightly more expensive at 530GBP – surely the small price difference is worth having double the amount of storage space, no? If you ask me, this seems to be similar to the Runnymede in all aspects, perhaps there’s a typo somewhere or something got lost in translation?
