Samsung decided to be a wet blanket at the iPhone 4S‘ launch in Sydney, Australia, employing the classic price cut strategy. Oh, and what a cut it was! We’re talking about Samsung advertising the Galaxy S2 just down the road form Sydney’s Apple Store (a rented place, no doubt about it), where the first ten people in line at the Samsung Music Hub awareness shop will be able to bring home the Galaxy S2 for a mere $2 (in local currency, of course).

This offer is good for a week only, so I am quite sure you will see campers for the entire week already taking their place, although this promotion might not be able to prevent the mass adoption of iPhone 4S devices in Australia considering how the pre-order phase of the “best iPhone yet” has broken the old record already. Which side of the divide are you on? I do wonder whether the 70 people or so who picked up the Galaxy S2 for $2 after this will still purchase an iPhone 4S – someone should do a follow-up to find out the results.

With the Samsung Galaxy Nexus/Nexus Prime/Droid Prime not even out the door, let alone seeing an official announcement or acknowledge about the device, and with the Samsung Galaxy S2 arriving in the US not too long ago, there has already been talk about a Samsung Galaxy S III, and it looks like it’s already in the works if the leaked photo above is to be believed.

With the tremendous success Samsung has had with the Galaxy S2, it’s only natural that they would capitalize on that with a successor, the Galaxy S III (assuming that’s what it’s going to be called). Thanks to Phandroid’s tipster, and assuming that the details aren’t fabricated, we now know a little bit more about to expect from Samsung’s next flagship phone.

In what appears to be a hastily snagged photo of an internal slideshow presentation, there is mention of a Samsung Galaxy S III. There is an an accompanying photo but that could be a placeholder for all we know, but based on the specs listed, the alleged Samsung Galaxy S III will be shipped with an 1.8GHz dual-core processor using Samsung’s Exynos 4212 chipset, 2GB of RAM, a 12MP camera and will feature a 4.6” Super AMOLED Plus HD display.

What do you guys think? Is this just a really clever fake/photoshopped image or are we looking at a possible Samsung Galaxy S III’s specs? I guess for now we’ll just have to take this with a grain of salt and wait for more details to surface.

If Apple’s iPod touch doesn’t do it for you, how about getting your hands on an Android equivalent? You may remember Samsung’s Galaxy WiFi, which is basically Samsung’s answer to Apple’s iPod touch, and is essentially a media player that runs on Android. 

The good news is that if you were hoping to get your hands on the device, the 5” version of the device is available now in the UK, while it’s smaller 3.6” sibling is expected to make an appearance in November.

A quick recap for those who may have forgotten or may be unfamiliar with the device: The Samsung Galaxy WiFi comes in two versions – a 5” version and a 3.6” version. The 5” version will feature a 1GHz single-core TI OMAP processor with Samsung’s TouchWiz UI on top of Android’s Gingerbread 2.3.

While there was no mention of the official price in the press release, the 5” Samsung Galaxy WiFi is expected to retail for about 200 ($310). Unfortunately no word on its smaller 3.6” sibling, but we’re guessing that more details will emerge as its launch date approaches, which should be some time in November.

When we first covered the flexible Samsung Galaxy Skin back in June, it was presented as a pure design concept. Thanks to its flexible AMOLED display, the Galaxy Skin was thought about as a phone that can take on many shapes: clamshell, bracelet, elongated… Somehow, International Business Times (ibt) claims that this concept will turn into a real product which will launch in Q2 2012. As you can imagine, the rumor is going through the web like a wildfire.Although flexible AMOLED displays have been demonstrated, bendable or wearable devices  have yet to show up, even in the shape of reasonably working prototypes. Also, while the screen may be flexible, the rest of the phone like the battery, processor, memory, connector, wires etc… may not be – at least, until they get small enough to not mind about the bending nature of their host. At the very least, you should take those rumors with a good pinch of salt.

Nevertheless, it’s always fun to speculate about the near future, here’s what the Galaxy Skin specs are supposed to be:

The Samsung Galaxy Note seems to be the happy middle between a smartphone and a tablet, and while it does not appear that Samsung has plans to launch the device in the US market (hopefully that will change soon), Clove in the UK has apparently outed a release date for the device as far as the UK market is concerned.

If you’re living in the UK, it seems that Clove has “confirmed” that the device will be released some time late November. They have put an estimated price of £500 + VAT, which seems to be along the same lines of the pricing we mentioned last time.

Just a quick recap for those who forgot, the Samsung Galaxy Note is running on a 1.4GHz dual-core processor with a 5.3” HD Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1280×800. It is expected to feature HSPA+ and LTE connectivity and will come with an S Pen interface and stylus, which is along the lines of HTC’s Scribe stylus, and will be running on Android’s Gingerbread 2.3. If you’re interested, Clove will let you pre-order the device now and won’t charge you, but instead will confirm with you once the device has actually been released and you can make your payment then.

Samsung’s sexy upcoming Android device, the Galaxy Note 5.3 isn’t expected to be released until 2012, but it looks like the company has decided to get formalities out of the way first, as the large-screen phone has paid a visit to the offices of the FCC. Passing through without any issue, the Galaxy Note (GT-I9220) sports North American 3G/4G bands that are compatible with AT&T’s network. Other than that, no other additional details were revealed – then again, there’s not much we don’t know after its official unveiling earlier this month.

The Galaxy Note is a “phone-let” (too small to be a tablet, too large to be a phone) that packs a 1.4GHz dual-core processor, a 5.3? HD Super AMOLED display, an 8-megapixel rear camera, a 2-megapixel front facing camera, an S Pen interface and stylus, Android 2.3 Gingerbread, and a 2,500mAh battery. Let’s hope the FCC filing of the Android device means it might drop earlier than expected. Anybody planning on picking one up when it goes on sale?

After being introduced quite awhile ago, the Galaxy Tab 8.9 and Galaxy Player 4.0 and 5.0 are finally arriving on our shores. At the Samsung Experience in New York earlier today, Samsung had some good news for folks looking forward to get their hands on the aforementioned devices. The Galaxy Tab 8.9 (for those of you who feel that the 7 is too small and the 10.1 is too big) is available for pre-order starting today. The Android Honeycomb tablet will go on sale nationwide starting October 2nd for $469 (16GB) or $569 (32GB). Check out our hands on preview for more details about the tablet.

The Galaxy Player 4.0 and Galaxy Player 5.0 are Android-powered portable media players (PMP) that basically let you enjoy the versatility and functionality of an Android phone minus the ability to make phone calls and connect over 3G. Both players will pack the same specs except that the Galaxy Player 4.0 will have a smaller display (4?) while the 5.0 will carry a 5? display, and the 4.0 will also have a smaller battery (1,200mAh) and weighs less. The Galaxy Player 5.0 will be available for $269 and the Galaxy Player 4.0 will cost $229. Both players will go on sale nationwide starting October 16th.
