SFPD looks for bar surveillance video in lost iPhone case

It seems that the owners of Cava 22 have something which the SFPD are interested in – surveillance footage in the bar where an Apple employee allegedly lost an unreleased iPhone a few months ago. The SFPD has requested the permission of Cava 22's owners to review the bar’s surveillance footage, and it will most probably be an internal police probe that will look into how officers helped Apple in looking for the missing handset.

According to Lt. Troy Dangerfield, a spokesman for SFPD, he does not seem to be in the loop since he was not aware that investigators had already gone to the bar, and neither did he know that they were looking for the videos. As Apple did not yet file a police report, Troy is rather confident that no criminal investigation connected to the missing device is being made.

The conclusion by Troy? This is most probably part of the internal review launched this month by department officials, in order to probe just how the police are able to help Apple look for the missing phone. When contacted, Apple remained mum.

Levitatr Bluetooth keyboard for tablets looks amazing

Keyboard cases/attachments for tablets have usually been standard fare, with nothing much to shout about. They tend to be sleek and they get the job done, but for those who are fussy about design and looks, the Levitatr Kickstarter project might be something you may want to check out.

As with most keyboard docks for tablets, the Levitatr will be paired with your tablet via Bluetooth, and what makes it so unique is that when not in use, the entire surface and the keys appear to be black, but when you want to use it, a touch of a button will cause the keys to rise out of the chassis and illuminate, thus the name Levitatr, which we’re assuming is based on the keys “levitating”. Not only is this a sleek and elegant design, but it also allows you to clean the surface of the keyboard and get rid of those bread crumbs and dead skin.

The chassis of the Levitatr is made out of a single piece of aluminum, very reminiscent of Apple products, and not surprising as well considering that there will be five buttons built into the keyboard that are iPad specific. Measuring in at 12.5mm thick, the Levitatr is powered by 4 AAA batteries and for non-iOS tablet owners, not to worry as the Levitatr will be able to support the HP TouchPad, Samsung Galaxy Tab and Galaxy Tab 10.1.

Currently seeking funding through Kickstarter, if you’re interested in donating some money, a pledge of $79 will net you the Levitatr Bluetooth keyboard if and when it goes into production. For more information head on down to its Kickstarter page.

Lian Li PC-TU200 chassis looks like a suitcase

One of the joys of attending LAN parties is that you usually bring your own rig, which means that there’s a degree of comfort and familiarity that comes from using your own computer. However unless you’re using a gaming laptop, lugging around a desktop can be quite tedious, and while you will still have to contend with the various cables and plugs, Lian Li might be able to make carrying your desktop ever so slightly more comfortable.

Lian Li has just unveiled their new desktop casing with the Mini-ITX/DTX PC-TU200 chassis, with one of its unique features being that it comes with handle at the top which gives off the impression of a suitcase. Weighing in a 3.15kg with a 140mm front mounted intake fan, the case will be able to support graphic cards up to 300mm in length, four 3.5” hard drives and a 5.25” bay, HD audio and USB 3.0 I/O ports on the outside.

For those unfamiliar with the Lian Li brand, they are a Taiwan-based company that specializes in creating computer cases (among other things) that are usually made out of brushed or anodized aluminum, with one of their selling points being that they are usually fairly lightweight.

The PC-TU200 chassis is expected to launch end of the month and will retail for $199, so if you’re looking to carry your rig around with you in a more convenient fashion, perhaps this is one casing worth checking out.
