Can’t get enough of Star Wars and you feel that you’re the space opera’s number 1 fan on the globe? Well, it would bode you well to check out this Star Wars themed Yamana 200-watt 2.1 surround sound system which was carefully and painstakingly painted by Nub Graffix from the hit reality TV show American Choppers. I woud say that this is more or less an instant classic, where the TIE Fighters come with Yamaha 2.75? mid-range and 1? dome tweeters with built-in cross overs.

Apart from that, there is a 6.5? Yamaha sub-woofer, while the platform from where you control the volume, bass, treble and power, not to mention boasting aux/IPOD input, RCA inputs, and left & right channel outputs that control both TIE Fighters come in the form of the dreaded Death Star. Cue the Imperial March, and a custom made mod like this is definitely not going to come cheap by any means.

General Motors (GM) has teamed up with RelayRides, where the latter is the first peer-to-peer carsharing marketplace in the world, to enable millions of GM vehicle owners to leverage the OnStar system in order to rent their idle cars out via the RelayRides marketplace. This particular program is said to kick off sometime early next year, with it being GM’s first large-scale involvement in carsharing.

The whole idea is to make it a breeze for those who do not own a vehicle in order to gain access to temporary, affordable and reliable transportation in a Chevrolet, Buick, GMC or Cadillac. You being the car owner will control the rental rates and vehicle availability, and RelayRides offers the perfect platform to do so alongside a $1 million insurance policy in order to make sure each transaction is safe and convenient.

With the RelayRides mobile application in tow for an early 2012 release, you can be sure that your smartphone is getting more and more indispensable by the day. [Press Release]

Nissan LEAF[CEATEC 2011] Nissan’s vision of the electric car has culminated in the Nissan LEAF which we have already taken out for a spin nearly half a year ago, and this time around at CEATEC 2011, Nissan decided to parade their “LEAF to Home” charging system that paves the way for electricity that is stored in your LEAF’s batteries to be used to power your humble abode. Yes sir, the next time there is a brownout or a power cut because you forgot to pay your bills, here comes your LEAF to save the day.

Of course, I would say that this bit of information comes in extremely handy only if it were to be applied in emergencies such as earthquakes and the like – otherwise, to have your electric car discharge its battery power so that you can boil some water with an electric kettle? It doesn’t make much sense, especially when you need to head off for work first thing in the morning, and public transport is not the mode of travel for you.

Not too long ago Nikon announced their Nikon 1 compact cameras with interchangeable lens. These new breed of cameras are starting to pop up all over the place, ranging from brands such as Olympus, Sony and now it looks like Fuji wants to get on board that train too. The company has just announced that they will be launching their own series of interchangeable mirrorless camera systems in Japan for Sprint 2012.

Unfortunately this is pretty much all that Fuji has decided to announce. No word on specs, price, or even a teaser of what we can expect. All the company has decided to say about their new system is that they will attempt to “achieve the highest image quality”. Could Fuji be following in the footsteps of Olympus by releasing a camera with a “classic” design, much like Fuji’s X100 (pictured above), or will they instead adopt something more modern like Sony and Nikon?

There are iOS speaker docks available in the market that usually just focus on connecting the device to the speakers and pumping music out. There are models that feature FM tuners but there are even less that feature CD players, but if you want a speaker system that will not only support docking for your iOS devices but come with a CD player and FM tuner, Harman Kardon’s MS 150 could be the speaker system that you have been looking for.

The MS 150 sports an LCD display and features two 30 watt bass-reflex loudspeakers. It will also come with three auxiliary audio inputs along with 3.5mm headphone jacks, one in the back and one in the front. It also sports a subwoofer output which will allow you to connect an external subwoofer, and will come bundled with an infrared remote control along with features such as a built-in alarm clock, sleep timer and a dimmer. With all these features, don’t expect the MS 150 to come cheap as it will be sporting a price tag of $689.95.

In this modern day and age, there’s this niggling, chronic situation known as “stress” that affects most of us at the office, and usually the higher you climb, the more stress one encounters (and dispenses – have you ever thought about that concerning your subordinates?). Well, a particular project that was demonstrated at the Medicine 2.0 Congress at Stanford showed off the Brain Bot system that requires you to wear a visor-like device on your head, using corresponding connected software to help you clear your mind of all thoughts and distractions for ten seconds.

Doing this is said to power “your brain battery”, and it proved to be far easier said than done, even for the representative performing the demonstration. Of course, it did not help that all the noise and anticipation of the crowd to see a result certainly had an (negative) effect. Once you have powered your brain battery, however, the Brain Bot software will offer a range of mental exercises while tracking your progress to help you clear your mind of mental clutter. Do you think that this is some sort of digital Professor X?

TrayVu IFE system brings a twist to airline entertainment systems

Skycast Solutions intends to introduce a new way to keep passengers entertained whenever they hop on a long haul flight – through the new TrayVu IFE (In Flight Entertainment) system, which is the first IFE system in the world that has been integrated into the tray table. Yes sir, that tiny table that you pop open (in Economy Class anyways) to eat your meals on will now offer an improved onboard customer experience.

After all, the current nature of the airline market is extremely competitive to say the least, so if an airline is able to differentiate itself from the rest through a unique selling point, then it might just bring over customers who have long been sitting on the fence, frequent flier points or not.

This is the only tray-integrated IFE system in the world, where it weighs less than 2lbs for each seat, and costs a fraction of what seat-back systems do, while running on the highly customizable Android platform. It is also easy to maintain, as all you need to do to swap the unit is deal with the couple of screws and a plug. Best news of all for airlines who want to take this route? No seat modifications are required, as your passengers will soon enjoy touchscreen capability on this 8.9? HD resolution display. [Press Release]
