Sony’s A65 digital camera is something that some of you out there are clearly on the lookout for, being more than willing to fork out a handsome amount for it. Well, we know that waiting for something on the horizon could prove to be a killer, especially with all the excitement building up, but we have word that the A65 has been delayed until later this November. Not exactly good news for those who prefer to get their Christmas shopping done way earlier.

We do know that this will be a 24.3-megapixel shooter that offers translucent mirror systems, an OLED viewfinder, and 1080p video recording capability amongst others, but whispers are being bandied about that the A65's production was shut down in order to “review production of the camera”. No idea on what kind of review that encompasses though.

Hopefully this little hiccup will not frustrate your holiday shopping plans, but we do hope to see Sony bring production of the A65 back up as soon as possible.

Not too long ago Nikon announced their Nikon 1 compact cameras with interchangeable lens. These new breed of cameras are starting to pop up all over the place, ranging from brands such as Olympus, Sony and now it looks like Fuji wants to get on board that train too. The company has just announced that they will be launching their own series of interchangeable mirrorless camera systems in Japan for Sprint 2012.

Unfortunately this is pretty much all that Fuji has decided to announce. No word on specs, price, or even a teaser of what we can expect. All the company has decided to say about their new system is that they will attempt to “achieve the highest image quality”. Could Fuji be following in the footsteps of Olympus by releasing a camera with a “classic” design, much like Fuji’s X100 (pictured above), or will they instead adopt something more modern like Sony and Nikon?

Looking for a fixed-lens, high-end, compact camera? Ricoh might have the answer for you with their recently unveiled GR Digital IV camera, which is the successor to the company’s GR Digital III. With the GR Digital IV camera, there are some upgrades that hopefully some of you will find to justify the price.

For starters, Ricoh has upgraded the autofocus system on the GR Digital IV, and brought with it a new imagine engine and an improved optical filter. This new autofocus system is said to be twice as fast compared to the GR Digital III. It also sports a brand new 3” VGA LCD at the back of the camera.

The camera itself will be sporting a 10MP sensor with a fixed 28mm/f1.9 GR lens with 4x digital zoom. It will support SD and SDHC memory cards as well as wireless transfer by Eye-Fi SDHC storage cards. For those who love to have more control over the editing of their photos, the GR Digital IV is also capable of shooting in RAW format.

The Ricoh GR Digital IV will be available in two colors – a black color version which will cost $790, and a limited edition white version that will set you back $1,027.

Love to shoot photographs of your friends cowering in fear, but you can never scare them and pull out the camera in time to capture their expressions? Well, this concept camera from designers Sung Young Um and Jung Eun Yim should help solve that problem. Called the Sling Shot Camera, it is specifically designed for the aforementioned purpose. This digital camera is shaped like a sling shot, and is triggered when the elastic band is pulled.

By the time people realize that you don’t have a real sling shot in your hands, it will be too late, and you’ll have their shocked expression caught on your camera (which you’ll no doubt share with your all friends on your social networks). The Sling Shot Camera even has two flash lights which means it can even be used in the dark. The bottom of the camera has a USB port for image transferring purposes. No word on whether the concept will ever get turned into a real gadget, but it definitely be a real fun camera to bring to parties. More pictures at the source link.

We do know that Panasonic is working on a new kind of LUMIX digital camera that is said to debut at IFA 2011, and the most recent press release touts a winter release date. Just what does this compact digital camera offer? For starters, it allows you to snap 3D photos as well as capture your favorite memories in stereoscopic 3D glory, in HD resolution to boot.

Just how did this particular new camera cram in all the features into a relatively small body? For starters, it will make use of a couple of newly developed 4x zoom lenses thanks to thin, folded optics. With its optical zoom system, it will deliver highly versatile 3D shooting with wide angle to telephoto, not to mention an Optical Image Stabilizer that will also be hard at work regardless of whether you shoot 2D and 3D images/videos.

There are advantages in the incorporation of the twin-lens design, where they can shoot full-pixel 2D photos while capturing 2D videos simultaneously. In addition, this new shooter can also capture 3D HD videos in the AVCHD format thanks to the side-by-side method.
