With the iPhone 4S hitting over 1 million pre-orders on its first day, and shattering the iPhone 4’s record of 600,000, it is looking like the iPhone 4S is turning out to be quite the popular device after all, despite the lukewarm reception that it received when it was first announced. Despite the popularity evidenced by its pre-order sales, Vodafone in the UK has decided to help its popularity along further but lowering their prices.

For those living in the UK, it looks like Vodafone could be your carrier of choice should you decide to get the iPhone 4S. If you decide to go with the 16GB model, the cheapest plan at £26 a month will now require you to pay £239 for the phone upfront, which is £120 cheaper from its original price of £359. The 32GB model will see a drop in price of £80 while the 64GB model will be £70 cheaper. All of this will be on a two year contract.

Apparently this move by Vodafone is so that they could remain competitive while offering good value across all the iPhone models. While Vodafone still may not be the cheapest carrier for the iPhone 4S, some of the perks of subscribing to Vodafone, such as deals on V Festival and free browsing for BT Openzone wireless hotspots could convince customers to come over to their side. Regardless their motives, as long as it translates to savings and a bargain, we’re sure that most customers would be happy enough.

It is without doubt that the iPhone 5 is one of the most rumored, talked about, hyped up and highly anticipated handset to be coming out this year. This is natural given Apple’s trademark secrecy, allowing for little to no leaks at all, which leaves everyone in the tech world speculating to no end about what the device could be about.

This is why when Vodafone Australia released the teaser image above, little was left to the imagination as to what smartphone could they be possibly talking about. Granted it could be just about any device, but whether you’re an Apple fan or anti-Apple, you’ll have to admit that no phone this year has caused quite the stir among fans and detractors alike other than the Apple’s next-generation iPhone. If you’re living in Germany and are rather disappointed that you cannot get hold of a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 in that part of the world simply because Apple’s legal eagles have filed an injunction to the courts to ban the sales of said tablet there, fret not. There are still other alternatives out there (which Apple probably hopes will steer you towards their very own iPad 2), and Vodafone Germany might offer two possible solutions with their very own Vodafone-branded Smart Tab 7 and Smart Tab 10.

Both these models will be powered by the Android 3.2 Honeycomb operating system, running on a 1.2GHz dual-core Qualcomm processor not to mention sharing the same 1,280 × 800 resolution – which means you can play back High Definition (not Full HD) videos without missing a beat. Not only that, these will sport 16GB and 32GB internal memory capacities, depending on the size of your bank account. Expect these to arrive in Germany this November though at a yet unspecified price point.

It is safe to assume that the majority of Windows Phone users out there have been waiting for the Mango update for a long, long time ever since they caught whiff of it. Well, hold your breath just for a little bit longer as Vodafone Australia has just announced that they have finished work on the Mango update for the HTC Trophy, and has set out to give it its stamp of approval.

Surely those who are associated with Telstra and Optus will wonder when would their turn be assuming those carriers do have Windows Phone handsets. No idea on how much longer the wait will be over at Vodafone Australia, but we sure are keeping our fingers crossed that our friends Down Under will be happier than usual in the weeks to come.
