Electric vehicles are great as they’re zero emissions vehicles, but then again there is the problem of how long the batteries are able to last, and not to mention the fact that charging points are few and far in between – even more so when you want to drive to the outskirts. Well, having said that, electric vehicles also aren’t known to be performance on the asphalt, but Morgan and Zytek intends to change that with a new high performance electric vehicle.

We’re talking about a lightweight aluminum body that you see above with a 70kW electric motor inside – where this people mover has been dubbed as the Electric Morgan +E. It is going to be an extremely rare vehicle since only two of them will be made, but assuming the experience ends up in a favorable manner, “further developments” might be in the pipeline.

It is nice to know that the +E shall retain the original motor-powered SuperSports’ manual transmission, so that energy will be used in a far more efficient manner that directly results in an increase in the vehicle’s range. Not only that, it will also pave the way for lower gearing for rapid acceleration from pull-away and higher gearing for top speed.

Simple mathematics deduce that this NASA-approved electric airplane that you see above will travel at speeds of up to 100mph – after all, how else did it cover 200 miles in two hours? While electric airplanes are not new, this one is clearly a triumph in flight efficiency as well as battery life, being able to sustain a 200 mile flight using nothing but electricity alone.

In fact, when you convert the amount of electricity used, it is roughly equal to that of 2 gallons of gas – or less. From electric cars to electric bikes and now electric planes, I suspect a jet-sized version is still very far from reality as there are nigh insurmountable engineering challenges at the moment before such a dream is rolled out. Enjoy the video of this plane right after the jump.

Brompton unveils their foldable electric bicycle

Foldable electric bikes aren’t exactly new, but if you’re looking for an alternative to all the models that are currently available, Brompton has just unveiled their very own foldable electric bicycle, a project that the company has apparently been working on in secret for the past several months.

If you’re a fan of Brompton’s bicycles, you may have subscribed to their newsletter and it appears that in the past several months, Brompton has been teasing their newsletter subscribers about a certain project that they have mysteriously dubbed “Project X”. Each newsletter apparently contained a storyline about “Project X” which we’re guessing was designed to build suspense and anticipation.

The project has finally been revealed and while speculation has led to a possible fully titanium bicycle or a carbon fibre folding bike, it turned out to be an electric folding bike which has been given the moniker, the eBrompton. No pictures are available yet (the one above is just Brompton’s regular folding bicycle) and details are scare at the moment. All Brompton has opted to say at this point is that it will sport a “powerful electric motor” that will “outperform its peers”.

The eBrompton is expected to be rolled out first in the UK and Germany come 2012, followed up by a worldwide release in 2013.
