If you’ve been following the saga of Apple vs Samsung, it would appear that so far Apple has been the one throwing punches while Samsung sits there and takes them, appealing injunction after the other. All things considered, from an outsider’s perspective it does make Apple look like a bully, but it looks like Samsung has had enough and plans to get aggressive.

After seeing their Galaxy Tab 10.1 being delayed in Australia and banned in Germany and posters of their Galaxy Tab 7.7 and Galaxy Note having to be taken down during IFA 2011, we’re guessing Samsung is not too happy about this. According to an interview given to Associated Press, Samsung’s head of global marketing for mobile communications, Lee Younghee was quoted as saying:

“We’ll be pursuing our rights for this in a more aggressive way from now on.”

Lee Younghee was also quoted as saying that Apple had been “free-riding” on Samsung’s wireless communication technology, which has been one of Samsung’s patents that they are using as a base against Apple in a recent lawsuit. While we can’t be sure what sort of “aggressive” moves Samsung will be making, it looks like their plans to ban the iPhone 5 in South Korea and Europe seems to be a step in that direction.

About a week ago we reported that T-Mobile’s Chief Marketing Officer, Cole Brodman, allegedly mentioned during a town hall meeting with T-Mobile’s staff that the carrier would not be getting the iPhone. Considering how the rumors are suggesting that the next-generation iPhone would be a “world phone” (capable of working on GSM and CDMA networks), it was naturally assumed that T-Mobile and Sprint would be getting their hands on the device as well.

If for some reason you thought that maybe T-Mobile’s CMO was being coy and not wanting to spill the beans, just yesterday during a technology conference, he reiterated that T-Mobile will not be getting the iPhone. He was quoted as saying, “They know we want the phone [...] we’ll wait for that call.” 

Interestingly Sprint was also at the same conference, but instead of flat out denying rumors of them getting the iPhone, Sprint’s CTO, Stephen Bye, was quoted as saying “I’m in no position to comment on that,” which some are taking to be an acknowledgement of sorts. We’re sure that there are many T-Mobile subscribers out there, who despite the news, are still crossing their fingers and hoping otherwise. I guess we will have to wait and see.

One of the rumors surrounding Apple’s next-generation iPhone is that it will sport both GSM and CDMA radios in one device, which means technically the iPhone 4S/5 should be able to run on just about any carrier around the world, making it a “world phone”. AT&T and Verizon have both been carrying the iPhone 4, and there have been rumors that Sprint will be one of the carriers to sport the iPhone 4S/5, but oddly enough there was no mention of T-Mobile.

A recent town hall meeting held by T-Mobile for their employees may confirm why T-Mobile has been left out of the loop surrounding iPhone 4S/5 rumors. According to T-Mobile’s Chief Marketing Officer, Cole Brodman, he bluntly stated that “We are not going to get the iPhone 5 this year.”

Now we could attempt to read between the imaginary lines and speculate that perhaps Brodman was simply trying to throw everyone off by making such an outrageous statement, or we could take it as it is – the truth. We’re guessing that T-Mobile users will be very disappointed by this news, and to be honest his blunt statement left nothing to the imagination, however with the iPhone 4S/5 supposedly a few weeks away from being announced/launched, T-Mobile subscribers should probably keep their fingers crossed!
