WildTangent and T-Mobile today announced that the WildTangent Games service is going live for T-Mobile customers with Android devices. Designed for folks who don’t want to spend so much money on a game that they can finish in one day, or won’t touch more than once after purchasing, WildTangent gives mobile gamers the chance to play all the games they want – without intrusive adverts, or paying exorbitant costs.

WildTangent is even giving people the chance to play premium high-quality games for the price of free – all they have to do is watch a short video before playing it. Game rentals start from $0.25 for 24 hours. With the lineup of games consisting of titles like Fruit Ninja, Kona’s Gate and Guitar Hero – WildTangent Games has titles for everyone. T-Mobile customers, text “GetWild” to 6255 from your Android phones to access the WildTangent service.

In addition to its two new powerhouse devices, T-Mobile introduced a brand new mobile hotspot today. Called the Sonic 4G Mobile HotSpot, it provides access to T-Mobile’s HSPA+ 42 network for up to five WiFi-enabled devices. It is manufactured by Huawei, features a sleek and ultra-portable form factor, and only weighs 3.88 ounces. Talk about lightweight! In addition to functioning as a mobile hotspot, the Sonic 4G has an SD card slot that can be used to store and share content with friends and family connected to it.

The Sonic 4G features an OLED display to show signal strength, number of devices connected, number of unread text messages, connectivity to the internet, battery level and network connection type. The Sonic 4G will be available sometime next month though no prices have been announced yet. Stay tuned for more details.

It looks like last week’s news about the announcement turned out to be true. Today, T-Mobile has given a release date for one of the most anticipated Android phones arriving on the network: the Samsung Galaxy S2. Already out on Sprint’s network and coming soon for AT&T, we finally have a release date for T-Mobile’s version. T-Mobile’s Galaxy S2 will feature a 4.52? Super AMOLED Plus display, a 1.5GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S3 processor (as opposed to the Exynos found on the other Galaxy S2 phones – this adds unneeded confusion for consumers, as the name of the phones and hardware don’t match but let’s hope the experience will), Android 2.3.5, NFC, DLNA compatible, HDMI output, WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS. The Galaxy S2 will also support T-Mobile’s HSPA+ 42 network.

The phone will be available nationwide starting October 12th, while online pre-sales will begin on October 10th. The phone is expected to cost $229.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate with a 2-year contract on T-Mobile. Find out more. About a week ago we reported that T-Mobile’s Chief Marketing Officer, Cole Brodman, allegedly mentioned during a town hall meeting with T-Mobile’s staff that the carrier would not be getting the iPhone. Considering how the rumors are suggesting that the next-generation iPhone would be a “world phone” (capable of working on GSM and CDMA networks), it was naturally assumed that T-Mobile and Sprint would be getting their hands on the device as well.

If for some reason you thought that maybe T-Mobile’s CMO was being coy and not wanting to spill the beans, just yesterday during a technology conference, he reiterated that T-Mobile will not be getting the iPhone. He was quoted as saying, “They know we want the phone [...] we’ll wait for that call.” 

Interestingly Sprint was also at the same conference, but instead of flat out denying rumors of them getting the iPhone, Sprint’s CTO, Stephen Bye, was quoted as saying “I’m in no position to comment on that,” which some are taking to be an acknowledgement of sorts. We’re sure that there are many T-Mobile subscribers out there, who despite the news, are still crossing their fingers and hoping otherwise. I guess we will have to wait and see.

One of the rumors surrounding Apple’s next-generation iPhone is that it will sport both GSM and CDMA radios in one device, which means technically the iPhone 4S/5 should be able to run on just about any carrier around the world, making it a “world phone”. AT&T and Verizon have both been carrying the iPhone 4, and there have been rumors that Sprint will be one of the carriers to sport the iPhone 4S/5, but oddly enough there was no mention of T-Mobile.

A recent town hall meeting held by T-Mobile for their employees may confirm why T-Mobile has been left out of the loop surrounding iPhone 4S/5 rumors. According to T-Mobile’s Chief Marketing Officer, Cole Brodman, he bluntly stated that “We are not going to get the iPhone 5 this year.”

Now we could attempt to read between the imaginary lines and speculate that perhaps Brodman was simply trying to throw everyone off by making such an outrageous statement, or we could take it as it is – the truth. We’re guessing that T-Mobile users will be very disappointed by this news, and to be honest his blunt statement left nothing to the imagination, however with the iPhone 4S/5 supposedly a few weeks away from being announced/launched, T-Mobile subscribers should probably keep their fingers crossed!

The Samsung Galaxy S2 has been released on Sprint and announced for AT&T, which means that only T-Mobile’s variant of the Android phone is the only one that’s missing (Verizon won’t be carrying it). Well, for folks who’ve been waiting for the phone to arrive, the wait is almost over. Earlier last month when Samsung unveiled all three US versions of the Galaxy S2, T-Mobile didn’t give a release date for the phone, but it did mention that it will be holding a separate event for the phone.

Today, T-Mobile has been reported to have sent out invitations for an event next week, where the carrier is believed to be announcing the phone. The event will be on Monday, September 26th in San Francisco and it will be an evening of DJs, drinks and devices. No word on whether T-Mobile will be showing off any other phones or tablets, but the release date for its Galaxy S2 is expected to be revealed. Stay tuned and we’ll keep you posted.

Remember the funky looking BlackBerry Bold 9980 that is said to be designed by Porsche? Well, more high quality photographs of the phone have surfaced again, and this time it is placed side by side with a T-Mobile Bold 9900 phone for comparison of size and parts. In addition to more detailed photographs about the phone, there are screenshots showing the phone powered on and running BlackBerry OS 7.

If the phone was a fake or some “Shanzai” copy, whoever created it sure put a lot of effort into duplicating the operating system as well. In fact, it seems to be very much a BlackBerry phone wit if wasn’t for the futuristic looking keyboard and overall design.
