Samsung’s sexy upcoming Android device, the Galaxy Note 5.3 isn’t expected to be released until 2012, but it looks like the company has decided to get formalities out of the way first, as the large-screen phone has paid a visit to the offices of the FCC. Passing through without any issue, the Galaxy Note (GT-I9220) sports North American 3G/4G bands that are compatible with AT&T’s network. Other than that, no other additional details were revealed – then again, there’s not much we don’t know after its official unveiling earlier this month.
The Galaxy Note is a “phone-let” (too small to be a tablet, too large to be a phone) that packs a 1.4GHz dual-core processor, a 5.3? HD Super AMOLED display, an 8-megapixel rear camera, a 2-megapixel front facing camera, an S Pen interface and stylus, Android 2.3 Gingerbread, and a 2,500mAh battery. Let’s hope the FCC filing of the Android device means it might drop earlier than expected. Anybody planning on picking one up when it goes on sale?

It might seem to be all guts and glory when you sign up for Uncle Sam, but those who return from the battlefield will tell you that what you see on the silver screen is scripted – everything else when you’re there in person is a totally different dimension. You can never quite tell when a bomb might go off anytime, and in what form it would come in. As it turns out, it looks like those rumors about a 4th of October announcement for the next iPhone may be true. Apple has issued invitations to the media for a special iPhone event, which confirms the previous reports that it would be held at Apple’s Cupertino campus. Not much was revealed in the invite, although we guess that’s to be expected since they probably are keeping the good stuff until the event itself.
Most, if not all phones in Europe use a micro USB interface (pictured above circled in red) to charge and sync, but Apple has stubbornly held on to their 30-pin dock connector design. Back in 2009 the European Commission managed to reach a voluntary agreement with 10 mobile phone manufacturers to adopt a standard micro USB interface, and Apple was one of the parties who signed a Memorandum of Understanding, which basically stated that they would comply.

Huawei has collaborated with Red Bull in the past to introduce the RBM HD rugged handset, which is otherwise known as the Impulse for AT&T. It looks like that collaboration is back, but this time instead of Red Bull, Huawei has teamed up with the Discovery Channel to introduce the Huawei-Discovery Expedition phone, which considering the shows and programs that the Discovery Channel puts out, is a rather fitting name.
