Audio Books Changing the Face of Literature

The title might suggest that audio books have only started to change the way people read but in fact this innovation has been with us since the early 1930s. It was when J.P. Harrington recorded his dialogue with Native American tribes in 1933 when he stumbled upon audio books. Audio titles have already been in use before and they are reemerging again due to its convenient use and accessibility. With the advent of the internet, any digital file was available for downloading. Music files and movie files were being downloaded every day and downloadable audio titles became a part of this trend which changed the way people immerse their selves in literature.

The present generation is famous for living life in hyper speed. Millions of people around the world are always moving about in a fast pace trying to meet deadlines and most of them do not have the time or the luxury to sit still and wait for the world to slow down. Most of these people can't afford to spare some time and read a book which is why the reemergence of audio books became a blessing to most of them.

For those people who can't wait to read a whole book but still love literature, audio books are the perfect solution to this predicament. So many people download audio titles every day and several of them listen to them while they are driving to work or riding the train or waiting for their laundry to dry. They are the most convenient solution to the person always on the go.

Audio Books vs. Regular Books

Compared to the paperbound or hardbound novels, audio literatures are much cheaper to reproduce and more convenient to use. Regular books are manufactured with the use of trees or recycled paper. Every time publishing companies publish a book they have to use hundreds of trees or recycled paper to produce books to be sold on bookstores. It can be quite expensive to reproduce books not to mention costly for the environment, which is why audio novel is a much more convenient alternative.

Audio books do not use trees or recycled paper for republication; actually it doesn't use any tangible material to be published over and over again. It uses digital recordings which can be reproduced immediately and several times over with little to no effort. They are merely recordings of a narrator telling a story or instructing the listener on whatever procedure the listener would want to learn. Back then audio titles were sold in tapes or vinyl records but because sound recordings nowadays have been digitized they can be downloaded through the internet with much more ease.
