Samsung’s Nexus Prime has gone through quite a lot even before it is officially announced, where it was originally touted to be on display at the Samsung Unpacked event which was subsequently shelved to a later date. Well, the iPhone 4S might be going great guns in terms of pre-orders (over a million!), but that could be due to sentimentalism after Steve Jobs called it a day here on earth, or the hype was already there in the first place to warrant such impressive pre-order figures. Still, I’m quite sure that the Nexus Prime has its own fair share of fans, and to see the smartphone finally make its way to the FCC can only mean one thing – the handset is being prepped for a mass relaese, and soon.

In the FCC filing, it was identified as the GT-I9250, which is pretty much the same model number that has been associated with the Nexus Prime for some time already. The Nexus Prime was cleared on the relevant bands for AT&T and T-Mobile HSPA service, but that alone is not a smoking gun as to which carrier it will arrive on. There does not seem to be any LTE support with this handset, so those living in AT&T LTE areas might want to shelve that victory jig for the moment.

There is also an outside chance that this filing might just be the international version of the Nexus Prime receiving its clearance so that it can make its rounds in the US, but only time will tell. Is it the iPhone 4S or the Nexus Prime for you?
