There are many college students who choose majors that coincide directly with what they are interested in and what their skill level is within a subject. Poetry is one of, if not the oldest, forms of written literature. Dating back from the time of Homer and his epics "The Iliad" and "The Odyssey", poetry has taken on many forms since the days of the blind poet and the Trojan War. There are many different kinds of poems today but what always stays the same is that poetry requires those poems to be written in verse form and figurative language to be littered all throughout the poem.
British literature is the term for writing that is able to be traced back to the civilizations that inhabited the islands of Great Britain and Ireland. Over thousands of years, British literature has changed and evolved due to the many people who have read and written many of the great works associated within this term. Some of the greatest British writers are James Joyce, Jonathan Swift, Joseph Conrad and Rudyard Kipling.
While there are technically no traditional or online English schools, every institution recognizes the need for their students to be well-versed in this subject. While an on-campus education was the only way to earn a degree in the past, there are now courses online for every major. You, too, can explore the literary greats when pursing your degree.
