Themes to Write About in Young Adult Literature

There are several themes to consider when writing for young adults.

1. Virtue- There are many such as Honesty, truth, integrity, fidelity, charity, wisdom, patience and many more. The understanding and practice of virtue enhances the individual and its extensions. In many ancient texts practicing virtue went far beyond foreign morals or vague ideals. Virtue was applied to attain specific spiritual and physiological achievements. Young adults should know the phrase, "Truth has no Age."

2. Reincarnation- The theory that there is a Soul and it manifests through many different physical births and after physical death. Only a few recent versions of religions touch on reincarnation. There is much ancient wisdom and personal experience for many to support this. You can bet the youth are thirsty for more on this topic.

3. Beyond the Supernatural- Werewolves, Vampires, Ghost, etc all have their places. Yet what about exploring the true life documented details of real human beings and divine beings, manifesting here on earth in 2011 and to come. There are High Beings that exist that elementals, goblins, demons dare not travail.

4. The Inner Divine- The word divine means different things to different people, yet what I describe as Divine, is akin to a "Blessing" experience of pure harmonious energy felt in your daily life when chaos seems to be at its height. Whats the balance?

5. Karma- Working to understand this concept in all its misunderstandings, with children, and young adults will prove very wise in the shortterm and longterm.

6. Chaos- Studying the Chaotic world as an example of "where not to be" with the aid of ancient teachings and understandings counter the perceived notion of "cool" even when it seems fashionable for Young Adult is vital.

7. Self-Development- Writing with the responsibility and knowledge that your young audience is at a certain stage in their life. And that every being is developing their physical, mental and spiritual self no matter where they are.

8. Enlightenment- Discussing the possibilities of an actual physiological transformation, documented by many countries, religious sets and militaries, along with experience, is a topic young adults would never forget.

9. Spiritual Growth- When virtue and other practices of refinement are applied and even when mistakes are made, there is a growth of spirit, that occurs. This is a jewel that can be expanded upon for Young Adults.

10. Creativity, Art and The Powers of the Unknown- This speaks for itself. Without these, no story will reveal itself or its flow. Young Adults and Adults feel we know yet until experienced these subtleties cab be underappreciated.
