Back in August, we reported on Fusion Garage’s Grid 4 smartphone along with the Grid 10 tablet. The phone was slated for a release in Q4 this year, but it was recently spotted at the FCC, which seems to suggest that perhaps we may not have to wait that long before we are able to get our hands on the device.
For those who may have forgotten about the device, it will be running on the GridOS platform, which is a variation of the Android platform which means you will be able to run your Android apps on it just fine. It will also sport a 4” 480×800 display, a 1GHz Qualcomm processor under the hood, 512MB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. It will also come with a 5MP camera that is capable of recording 720p video, a 0.3MP front-facing camera and a microSD card slot for memory expansion.
The FCC filing also revealed a user manual which basically outlined what we should be able to expect from the Grid 4 smartphone. It seems that it will feature full integration with email, Facebook and Twitter, and users will be able to import data from their Yahoo or Google accounts. It will also feature what Fusion Garage is calling the “TaoBar”, which apparently is able to offer suggestions apart from displaying notifications and events. For example if you were listening to a song, the TaoBar could suggest an artist of similar genre and such.
At the moment it does sound like it could be a rather promising device, but we will have to wait for it to be released before we can come to a better conclusion. Anyone excited at the prospect of getting their hands on Fusion Garage’s Grid 4?
