Google started out as a search engine, but over the years they have managed to expand their list of services to include e-mail (Gmail), a smartphone platform which has quickly dominated the marketshare in terms of platforms (Android) and recently even attempted to launch their very own social network (Google+). With Google Voice being an alternative to your typical cellular calls, would it be a stretch of the imagination to think that Google may one day launch their own carrier service? Apparently not as these recently surfaced photos seem to suggest.

As you can see in the photo above, it looks like a SIM card with the Google brand on it. According to the rumors, these SIM cards are being tested out on the Nexus S. The images apparently come from Spain and it seems that when inserted into the Nexus S device, the carrier branding changes to “Google_Es”. We’re not sure what to make of this as these photos could easily be doctored, although they do appear to be rather real. Could Google be looking to become a carrier of their own in Spain (with the help of Spain’s telcos Pepephone or Simyo) or is this just a really good photoshop job?
