It seems that the owners of Cava 22 have something which the SFPD are interested in – surveillance footage in the bar where an Apple employee allegedly lost an unreleased iPhone a few months ago. The SFPD has requested the permission of Cava 22's owners to review the bar’s surveillance footage, and it will most probably be an internal police probe that will look into how officers helped Apple in looking for the missing handset.
According to Lt. Troy Dangerfield, a spokesman for SFPD, he does not seem to be in the loop since he was not aware that investigators had already gone to the bar, and neither did he know that they were looking for the videos. As Apple did not yet file a police report, Troy is rather confident that no criminal investigation connected to the missing device is being made.
The conclusion by Troy? This is most probably part of the internal review launched this month by department officials, in order to probe just how the police are able to help Apple look for the missing phone. When contacted, Apple remained mum.
