Going green is huge on many companies’ agendas these days, and it is not only the right thing to do, but an act of responsibility as well. After all, if there is no sustainable future down the road, what’s the point of reaping billion dollar profits when you can’t enjoy it later on? AT&T intends to do their bit by announcing plans to introduce new plastic in AT&T-branded accessory packaging. Now, not all plastic is bad – the ones that AT&T will introduce are made up of up to 30% plant-based materials that are sourced from ethanol harvested from natural sugarcane.

The kind of sugarcane used is this plant plastic will be from a rapidly renewable agricultural crop, where the main reason for using it is to replace nearly 33% of the fossil fuels which are normally used in this accessory packaging with material made from plants.

This is a step in the right direction from AT&T, where Ma Bell also did their bit for the environment in March last year by sending their accessory packaging to the fat house, and this move eliminated the use of over 500 tons of paper and plastic in that packaging. What did you do for the environment today? [Press Release]
