Inside, you can choose between a second generation Core i3, i5 or i7, add up to 1TB storage AND a 64GB SSD. The memory maxes out at 4GB (6GB would have been a dream…) but you’ve got an internal drive and speakers that look decent. Interestingly, Lenovo estimates the battery life to 7hrs (in standard depletion mode, with display on), which is not bad at all for this type of computer. It is probably best to wait for the independent tests, however.I’m anxious to see what the display and the keyboards feel like. I was very impressed by the Lenovo X1 keyboard, but I was a bit disappointed by its display. Hopefully, the U400 will be fantastic on both fronts. We’ll have to wait and see.
If you prefer a slightly smaller form-factor, the Lenovo U300 is very similar to the U400, except that it uses a 13” display (same resolution), weighs only 3.5lbs (wow!) but has a slightly shorter estimated battery life (6hrs).
The Lenovo U300 and U400 computers look great, and we’re anxious to see if the details are as good as the overall picture. And I left the most interesting part for the end: the pricing starts at $799 (U300) and $849 (U400). So, what do you think?
