Audrina Shares Some DWTS Words Of Wisdom With Kristin Cavallari!

audrina-shares-some-dwts-words-of-wisdom-with-kristin-cavallari

Smart move! She wants to get as much insider info as possible!

Kristin Cavallari has just signed up for the upcoming season of Dancing With The Stars, and decided the best way to prepare for the intense, physically demanding reality competition was to ask her former co-star on The Hills and former contestant Audrina Patridge for some advice!

Audrina reveals:

"I lived in ballroom dancing for three and a half months. I didn't do anything else. I actually talked to [Kristin] last week. She texted me, and she was like, 'Hey, I was just thinking of you, and I wanted to tell you I'm doing Dancing with the Stars. It's going to be fun, right?' And I was like, 'Yeah, you're going to have an amazing time! You'll be in the best shape of your life.' I told her it's going to get hard, but just have fun with it. … I had a blast. Ballroom dancing, it's totally different than just going to a club and dancing, so it takes a lot of commitment and dedication. You really have to live in the dancers' world. I think she’ll do well, though."

Pretty solid words of wisdom, we'd say, gurl!

We think so long as she approaches it with that kind of positive attitude, and realizes that this isn't going to be a walk in the park, then she'll be fine!

At least we hope so! LOLz!

Best of luck, gurl!

Alcohol & Drunkenness in Proverbs & Other Wisdom Literature

I gave up drinking cold turkey with the help of my friends in Alcoholics Anonymous some nearly six years ago now. I have never missed it. I was not a drop-dead, "blackout" drunk but I did binge drink[1] many a weekend evening for years and it had started to affect other areas of my life, like for instance, work (not that anyone I think knew other than me). It had some less-than-obvious-to-the-outsider family impacts as well.

Those who have a drinking problem generally have a problem with people not drinking. They mirror their own needs onto the situation and feel relieved when others share in their pastime. It validates them, for secretly they loath the fact that they're hooked on booze.

So what does the Bible in the Wisdom tradition say about drinking? There are some Christian people I'm sure either aren't aware or don't seem to care about what it advises.

I found some proverbs in chapters 23 and 31 of that great book. There is also a snippet of value in Ecclesiastes. Realistically, however, Psalms and Song of Songs also are littered with allusions to drinking and drunkenness, but it is never seen as virtuous.

For starters, drunkards and gluttons become poor and their drowsiness clothes them in rags (Proverbs 23:20-21). They're oblivious to the fact of their own beating because they care only for the next drink (v. 35). They have woes, sorrow, strife and complaining (v. 29).

People who make much ado about alcohol and events imbued by alcohol are going down into a dark pit of their own misery. In the end drink stings like a viper (v. 32).

Proverbs 31 features the instruction to King Lemuel from his mother (vs. 4-7). She censures him about the folly of drink, for it is not for a nobleman. Inebriation taints the senses of judgment and any leader (let alone a king) will do well to avoid it.

Who drinks for the pure taste of the stuff? I'm not sure anyone does. Alcohol produces infinitely more harm than the very small (anecdotal) good it's alleged to produce. Alcohol is clearly the drug of choice for those who are already miserable; those who are poor, perishing and in anguish.

Finally, Ecclesiastes 10:17 mentions that good fare and wine are fine for building strength, not drunkenness. And this is the test. Have a drink or two. If that can't be your limit, give it away.

We do well to heed the instruction of the ancients. In a time of extended prosperity, the Western world is plagued with much binge drinking and its resultant abuses and neglect, the effects of which are at times catastrophic, personally and culturally.

[1] Drinking five or more [standard] drinks at a time is considered binge drinking for men. For women, this amount is four or more. (Source: www.hsc.wvu.edu/som/cmed/alcohol/glossary.htm) A standard drink is smaller than that which is normally served.

Wisdom Literature - 10 To Do's To Expand Your Horizons and Accelerate Your Growth

As promised, here is some more wisdom gleaned from the Willow Creek Global Leadership Summit...

The work of Jim Collins is the subject for today.  He is a creator of wisdom literature at its best!  He is a researcher and student of companies, examining how they grow, the leadership styles they incorporate, how they achieve superior performance, and how organizations can learn from them and become great within their own circle of influence.

Jim spoke to us about team dynamics and leadership, with great emphasis on the traits of teams on the way up, and teams on the way down.  Keep in mind this was not a list of his opinions, but the result of dedicated and methodical research on some of the most successful companies and organizations of all time.  He has identified very human traits like denial, passion, arrogance, and humility, and identified how they affect the organization through its growth and decline.

The core values of an organization, and the dedication of the leadership to those values, is one of the keys to long-term success.  The most successful organizations have, at their core, an ideal that is bigger than they are - In other words, a reason to endure the struggle.  They do not measure their success in financial terms, but rather are driven by a purpose beyond money and success.  They have identified what would be missed if they were to disappear.  Has anyone ever asked you, "What's your why?"  Do not underestimate the power of being totally clear about why you get up each morning and do what you do.  That clarity is what will carry you through tough times.

Jim wrapped up his discussion with a list of to do's that I feel bears repeating (somewhat modified for a broader audience).

Do your diagnostics. Inventory your physical and mental resources and honestly assess what is the truth about where you are, what you have, and what you need to get where you want to go.
Count your blessings. Put them on a spreadsheet and account for every good thing you have that you did not cause or create on your own.
Examine your question to statement ratio, and increase it by 50%.
Determine the key roles needed to be filled on your team (the roles you cannot, or do not do well), and fill them with fantastic people of like mind.
Keep a notebook of continued diagnostics of you and your team's performance (see #1).
Inventory the brutal facts. Find ways to measure and evaluate what you are doing and how it is working. You can not manage what you do not measure. Part of this process is continuing to learn and grow. Wisdom literature is one of the best tools at your disposal to expand on the ways you evaluate your efforts and results.
Make a stop doing list.
Define your results, and recognize your milestones. In my article "How Wise Leaders Inspire" I discussed the importance of celebrating those milestones. You are, in essence, taking your team "from here to there".
Double your reach to young people.
Set a Big Hairy Audacious Goal

In "How the Mighty Fall", Jim states, "The signature of the truly great versus the merely successful is not the absence of difficulty, but the ability to come back from setbacks, even cataclysmic catastrophes, stronger than before.  Great nations can decline and recover.  Great companies can fall and recover.  Great social institutions can decline and recover.  And great individuals can fall and recover.  As long as you never get entirely knocked out of the game, there always remains hope."

Jim left us with two final thoughts.  Never give up on your core values, and never give up on disciplining yourself to create your own future.

Internet Marketing Consultant Words of Wisdom

Colorado Internet Marketing Consultant Kevin Yeaman

Internet Marketing consists of a variety of marketing methods where the primary objective is to get new business prospects to your sales page, main website home page, or best marketing page which is enhanced through landing page optimization and draw them in to wanting more information and hopefully capture their contact information or get them to request more facts.   Our primary internet marketing consultant specialty is Colorado SEO search engine optimization marketing.  Ultimately you are probably going to try a variety of internet marketing strategies before you finally settle on what’s right for your business that delivers the most bang for the buck or return on investment.

Internet Marketing Consultants Services

Some of the most common internet marketing services that Internet Marketing Consultants sell are:

  • Email Marketing – email marketing where you send messages to a qualified opt-in list of prospects to subscribe to your newsletter or regular news postings.

  • Pay Per Click Advertising – Another type of internet marketing is to buy advertising on search engines which is called pay per click advertising where you pay a certain amount of cost or dollars for click troughs when clicking on your displayed advertising.  The more you pay the higher your ad is positioned on the Google SERP page.

  • Banner Advertising – Banner advertising is a type of internet display advertising where you create a banner ad to display on related content which can lead to qualified leads plus you pay the host for getting the visitor to click through to your page.  Banner advertising is commonly used in Affiliate marketing advertising.

  • Affiliate Marketing – In Affiliate Marketing there is a network of sites that pay each other for referring targeted traffic for specific types of call to action steps taken by the online customer.  It can also include various types of Social Media Marketing indeed with sites such as Linked In, Facebook, and Twitter garnering significant marketing potential.

  • Social Media Marketing or Social Media Optimization – Social media marketing on any one of hundreds of sites can bring traffic to your main target website if done correctly.

  • Video Marketing – An example of video marketing can be from Googles’ Youtube site.

  • Digital Marketing – This is a broad term much like internet marketing.  Additional types of internet marketing or digital marketing services include all types of permission marketing where you agree to be marketed to from your opt-in confirmations from your personal email account.

  • Local Search Marketing – Local Search Marketing in your local geographical community would use different internet marketing strategies for competing in your immediate geographical area versus competing globally for keyword rankings or competing in the United States of American only for instance.

Final Word = Search Engine Optimization = Best Internet Marketing Method IMHO

We have tried them all and found that focusing upon a primary business website and investing in it to become a focal point of your periphery marketing efforts delivers the best return on investment in the long term where search engine optimization is used to build up the main site into an authoritative site in its chosen keyword query space.  There are advantages and disadvantages of search engine optimization SEO which should be considered before making your final choice for your internet marketing consultant strategy.
